Delete Your BeerFindr Account

You can delete your BeerFindr account and all associated personal data directly within the app. This page explains how to do it, what data gets deleted, and how long deletion takes.
How to delete your account in the app
- Open the BeerFindr app on your iPhone or Android device.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top right.
- Scroll to the Account section.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm by typing DELETE when prompted.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your subscription, if active, will continue until the end of its billing period — manage subscriptions through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) to cancel.
What data is deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Profile information (name, age, bio, photos, location, drink preferences)
- All messages you've sent and received in chat
- Your match history and Cheers/Pass records
- Bar crawls you've created or joined
- Verification photo and identity verification status
- Push notification tokens
- Account credentials and authentication records
- Subscription history (purchase receipts are retained as required by Apple/Google)
Data retention period
- Immediately: Your account is marked deleted. You're signed out. Your profile becomes invisible to other users and you no longer appear in discovery.
- Within 30 days: Your personal data is purged from our primary databases.
- Up to 90 days: Encrypted backups containing your data are rotated out and overwritten as part of our standard backup cycle.
- After 90 days: All your personal data is irreversibly removed from our systems.
Some anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., total user counts, usage analytics with no identifying information) may be retained indefinitely for service improvement. Certain records may be retained longer where required by law (e.g., financial transaction records for tax purposes).
Delete only specific data, not your account
If you don't want to delete your whole account, you can:
- Remove individual profile photos — Profile → Edit Profile → tap a photo → Remove.
- Hide your location — Settings → Privacy → Location precision.
- Pause discovery — Settings → Discovery → Hide my profile.
- Sign out — Settings → Sign Out (keeps your account but logs you out on this device).
